1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the access and use of the Yasu Express Seller  Application (“App”), operated by Yasu Express (“Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a last-mile logistics platform operating in Ethiopia.

By accessing or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.

2. Service Description

Yasu Express provides a technology-enabled logistics platform that connects customers, sellers, and independent third-party drivers for on-demand last-mile delivery services.

The Company does not own, operate, or control delivery vehicles. All delivery services are performed by independent contractors.

Key Definitions:

  • Platform: The Yasu Express mobile application used to facilitate delivery services.

  • Customer/Seller: Any individual or business requesting delivery services through the App.

  • Driver: An independent contractor engaged to perform delivery services.

  • Package: Goods submitted by a customer/seller for transportation and delivery.

  • Yasu Mileage: A prepaid, non-cash, non-transferable service credit system used exclusively for payment of delivery services within the App. Yasu Mileage has no cash value and is not redeemable except through service usage.

3.Privacy Policy

Yasu Express is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of its users. This section explains how we collect, use, store, and protect user information in connection with the Yasu Express Seller App.

3.1 Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

Personal Information:

  • Full name

  • Phone number

  • Email address

  • Address

  • Identification details (if required for verification)

Transaction Information:

  • Order history

  • Payment details (processed through third-party payment providers)

  • Delivery records and invoices

Technical and Usage Data:

  • Device information (model, operating system)

  • App usage behavior and interaction logs

  • IP address and system diagnostics

Location Data:

  • Pickup and delivery location data for order fulfillment and route optimization

3.2 How We Use Information

We use collected data to:

  • Provide and operate delivery services

  • Process orders and payments

  • Match sellers with drivers

  • Improve platform performance and reliability

  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and illegal activities

  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations

3.3 Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We may share data only with:

  • Independent delivery drivers (for order fulfillment purposes only)

  • Payment service providers

  • Legal or regulatory authorities when required by law

  • Technical service providers supporting platform operations

All third parties are required to maintain strict confidentiality and data protection standards.

3.4 App Permissions

To provide and support our services, the App may request access to certain device permissions, including:

  • Camera Permission – Used to capture and upload images related to deliveries, account verification, and customer support requests.

  • Storage Permission – Used to upload, save, and access documents, images, and other files required for service operations and support.

  • Notification Permission – Used to send real-time updates regarding delivery status, driver assignments, account alerts, and system notifications.

  • Location Permission – Used to determine pickup and delivery points, match orders with nearby independent drivers, optimize delivery routes, and provide real-time tracking of packages.

Users may manage these permissions through their device settings. Certain App features may not function properly if required permissions are denied.

3.5 Account and Data Deletion

Users may request deletion of their account and associated personal data through the Profile section of the App.

Upon receipt of a valid deletion request, Yasu Express will delete or irreversibly anonymize personal data where reasonably practicable and in accordance with applicable laws.

However, certain limited information may be retained where required or permitted by law for the following purposes:

  •  Legal and Regulatory Compliance – To comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, or record-retention obligations.

  •  Financial, Tax, and Accounting Requirements – To meet tax, audit, accounting, and financial reporting obligations.

  •  Security and Fraud Prevention – To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, security incidents, or misuse of the Platform.

  • Dispute Resolution and Legal Claims – To enforce legal rights, resolve disputes, and comply with legal proceedings.

Any retained information will be securely stored and retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the applicable legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purpose.


3.6 Third-Party Services

Yasu Express uses trusted third-party service providers to support platform operations, including:

  •  Analytics services to monitor App performance, improve user experience, and analyze usage trends.

  • Mapping and location services to facilitate navigation, route optimization, pickup, and delivery operations.

These third-party providers may process certain data on our behalf in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data protection requirements.



4. Eligibility

To use the App, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old, or use the service under appropriate supervision

  • Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Ethiopia

  • Have legal authority to send goods for delivery

5. User Responsibilities

Users agree that they shall:

  • Provide accurate pickup and delivery details

  • Ensure all packages are properly prepared, securely packaged, and legally permissible for transport

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws regarding goods being transported

  • Be available for communication regarding active orders

  • Pay all applicable fees using supported payment methods or Yasu Mileage

Users are solely responsible for the contents of all packages submitted for delivery.

6. Prohibited Items

Users must not request or submit for delivery any of the following:

  • Illegal goods or substances under Ethiopian law

  • Dangerous, hazardous, or flammable materials

  • Items exceeding platform-defined weight or value limits

  • Stolen goods or items obtained unlawfully

  • Any items restricted under applicable laws or regulations

The Company reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or cancel any order suspected to violate this clause.

7. Delivery Restrictions and Refusal Rights

Yasu Express reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or cancel any delivery at any stage if:

  • The package cannot be safely transported on a motorcycle

  • The package exceeds 30 kg in weight

  • The declared value exceeds 30,000 ETB

  • The package contains prohibited or suspicious items

  • Operational, safety, or legal risks are identified

No age restriction applies to the use of the App; however, legal responsibility for goods remains with the user.

8. Pricing, Payments, and Yasu Mileage

  • Delivery fees are displayed prior to order confirmation

  • Prices may vary based on distance, demand, timing, and operational conditions

  • All payments must be made via supported payment methods or Yasu Mileage

  • Yasu Mileage is a prepaid service credit used exclusively for delivery payments

  • Yasu Mileage is non-refundable, non-transferable, and holds no cash value, except where required by law

  • Discounts or promotional offers applied to customers do not affect driver payout obligations unless explicitly stated by the Company

The Company may adjust pricing structures at its sole discretion.

9. Cancellations and Fees

  • Orders may be cancelled prior to pickup

  • Cancellation fees may apply depending on order status and operational progress

  • The Company reserves the right to cancel any order due to policy violations, safety concerns, or operational constraints

  • Cancellation fee distribution (if applicable) is determined solely by the Company

10. Delivery Responsibility and Limitations

  • Yasu Express acts solely as a technology platform connecting users and independent drivers

  • The Company does not guarantee delivery times, which are estimates onlyc

  • Delivery performance may be affected by external factors including traffic, weather, or operational constraints

  • Risk of loss transfers according to applicable operational handover points defined by the Company

11. Liability Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Yasu Express shall not be liable for:

  • Loss, damage, or delay arising from incorrect or incomplete user information

  • Actions or omissions of independent drivers

  • Delays caused by external or force majeure events

  • Prohibited or illegal items submitted by users

Users assume full responsibility for the legality and safety of all submitted packages.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from use of the App shall first be addressed through internal resolution mechanisms provided by Yasu Express. If unresolved, disputes shall be governed by the applicable laws of Ethiopia and resolved through competent legal authorities.

13. Account Suspension and Termination

Yasu Express reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate user accounts at its sole discretion in cases of:

  • Fraudulent activity

  • Abuse of the platform

  • Violation of these Terms

  • Illegal activity

14. Changes to Terms

Yasu Express may modify or update these Terms at any time. Users will be notified of material changes through the App or other communication channels. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
